Lord, call President Obama to pray. Make him a man of prayer. May he be inspired by another American President, Abraham Lincoln who said, "I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had absolutely no other place to go."

Teach [President Obama] to do your will,

for you are [his] God.

May your gracious Spirit lead [him] forward on a firm footing.

More and more I see President Obama as a hurting man, with weaknesses he strives to hide. I see a man who is troubled and over-compensates for it. And so, I again and again pray that You would lead him, Jesus, to a place of healing and wholeness--finding his footing (his identity!) not in his race, heritage, political party, or agenda, but rather in YOU! May You be his Lord and guide. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Today President Obama is addressing the nation's school children en masse. All over the country parents are refusing to send their children to school or having walk-outs. In response, some school districts have refused to air his message.

I do not think the President will say anything controversial or promote abortion, gay rights or gun control. The content of his speech is pretty benign. It's not the content, it's the context that bothers me.

Where did this hero worship of elected officials come from? We are not helping the President to accomplish his goals! We are not, as the infamous "I Pledge" video suggests, servants of the president! Things are so upside down! President Obama is a public servant. He is supposed to be serving our goals.

This video and the political environment of our day with a president who is politicizing the classroom by addressing all school children bothers me (and Gana) so much. These are the first steps down a path no one living in a Republic should be on.

My prayer for our President today is for an increase in humility and an awareness of what his job really is.

I Peter 5:5, "Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for 'God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.'"

Lord, I lift up President Obama's wife and children. I pray a hedge of protection around them. I pray that they would not be hurt in the spiritual battle that is raging in these times, but that Your hand of protection would be supernaturally on them. Cause the children to rise up in wisdom and revelation that surpasses that of their parents. May they speak Your heart and Your truth and Your conviction to their parents. May they not become jaded by growing up in a political culture. I also pray for the Obama's marriage. Keep it intact and intimate, even with the stress of the presidency. In Jesus Name.

Tuesday's Prayers For The President....on Wednesday

It really concerns me when I see people, especially Christian people who really ought to know better, looking to the government for answers to social problems. If we've learned anything in the last 50 years (hello?! Does no one recall Nixon or Carter?!) is that the answer is never only political. As Rich Mullins said, "The problem is that we think the masses will be more benevolent than a single dictator. Democracy isn't bad politics, it's just bad math. A thousand corrupt minds are as bad as one corrupt mind."

And as the health care reform debate heats up (and in case anyone would wonder, I'm 100% against the present plan) let's remember that our savior is not on Capital Hill.

Jesus, we look to you to transform and reform our country. We ask that our president has a revelation about this, too. YOU are the answer Jesus. Amen.

Lord, may President Obama not be afraid to stand up to those who would do Israel harm. For You will always side with Israel and her allies. Give President Obama supernatural wisdom and courage to do what is right. And may You thwart all the plans of Israel's enemies.

Isaiah 66:10-14

Today my prayers were again centered around praying for a spiritual father for President Obama. I specifically asked the Lord to send a strong black man to speak to his broken places.

I asked the Lord to send a prophet of old--like Nathan to David, Samuel to Saul, Daniel to Darius or Mordecai to Ahasuerus, someone who is not afraid to speak the truth and who is not intimidated by his position, nor blinded by his charisma.

A father of the fatherless....

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Lord, we ask that Obama be saved and that he come to the knowledge of the truth. May he have an encounter with the Holy Spirit.

Lord, today we again lift up President Obama before you. We pray ceaselessly for his salvation. May his heart be stirred up for you the way that the king's spirit was stirred in Ezra. The king of Persia's heart was stirred up in response to the word from the prophet. And he decreed the rebuilding of God's temple. May Obama's heart be stirred up the same way!

Lord, as President Obama deals with the leaders of North Korea, Iran and other world leaders with ideologies opposed to freedom, give him WISDOM! Let not our enemies triumph over us, nor celebrate our defeat.

Lord, we ask that history would tell the tale of two presidents in a single term--the president who started and the president who finished. May Obama have such a radical encounter with you--like Paul on the road to Damascus--that it would be as if two separate men served. It wouldn't be the first time You've done something like this Lord! If You did it before, You can do it again!

Gana and I sat around a bonfire last night. I looked up and saw the moon. This morning when I woke up to the kids clamouring for breakfast, I looked outside and saw the sun.

So, I know that the Lord is keeping His covenant to Israel.

Please pray that President Obama continues to stand on the side of Israel and does not cater to the Islamic nations of the world and their hatred of Israel. He will never be able to please everyone, but he will please God if he stands with Israel.

On Sunday, I heard an intercessor say that we need to pray for truth in media. The mainstream media loves to tailor their reporting to support an agenda and they love Obama and his anti-life agenda. We need to pray for the powers that be in media to be compelled to tell the truth and to expose wrong-doing.
