Notice God's unutterable waste of saints, according to the judgment of the world. God plants His saints in the most useless places. We say - God intends me to be here because I am so useful. Jesus never estimated His life along the line of the greatest use. God puts His saints where they will glorify Him, and we are no judges at all of where that is. ~Oswald Chambers, My Utmost For His Highest, August 10

His Truth Is Marching On!
"Why is it that, next to the birthday of the Savior of the world, your most joyous and most venerated festival returns on this day [Fourth of July]? Is it not that, in the chain of human events, the birthday of the nation is indissolubly linked with the birthday of the Savior? That it forms a leading event in the progress of the Gospel dispensation? Is it not that the Declaration of Independence first organized the social compact on the foundation of the Redeemer's mission upon earth? That it laid the cornerstone of human government upon the first precepts of Christianity"?

On the eleventh day of Christmas....
This clip is from a movie called The Fourth Wiseman that we watch every Epiphany, which is January 6. It's a moving tale of a Wise Man from the East that never makes to see the Christ-Child. Along the way he stops to help a starving man, a leper colony, a lost girl. He thinks that he has squandered his life, never being able to see Jesus and worship Him with gifts. But, in the end, after His crucifixtion Jesus appears to Him and accepts all his sacrifices. The movie is beautiful, funny, clever, and well-written. We highly recommend it!
As you prepare for the last day of Christmas (which is tomorrow) don't forget to offer gifts to Jesus. As you do to the least among us, you do to Him.
(The only videos I could find on YouTube have Indonesian subtitles. The original, of course, does not.)

A stranger said to me.....
This fun family made me laugh out loud!!!
P.S. If you don't have a large family and have been tempted to make any similar comments to strangers, I hope this video gives you pause. Trust me, we've heard it all before. The "ha-ha" is only a courtesy laugh.

For Your Christmas Pity Party
If you're feeling a little blue this Christmas, the following selections are what I consider the most depressing Christmas songs ever written.
BYOK.
(Bring your own kleenex.)
This first one is Abba's classic Happy New Year. They sure are smiley folks while singing that they may as well lay down and die!
This song is seriously messed up. Why does the radio station play it ALL THE TIME during the Christmas season?! I give you Same Olde Lang Syne:
Depressing? Yes! Fantastic hair and fashion? Yes!
Is anything more uplifting during the festive season of Peace on Earth and Good Will To Men than little children singing about war? Of course that was John Lennon's point, I suppose. As it was also an intentional snub to Americans to call the song Happy X-mas instead of Happy Christmas.
And if your cup of holiday weeping is not yet full, drown your sorrows in The River by Joni Mitchell. You may as well, because you can't skate away on it.
Happy Christmas to all and to all a good-night!

Broken Things
Interceding for a friend, the Lord sent this song. Not only is it my prayer for my friend, it's healing me, too.

The Frogs Who Desired a King
The Frogs were living as happy as could be in a marshy swamp that just suited them; they went splashing about caring for nobody and nobody troubling with them. But some of them thought that this was not right, that they should have a king and a proper constitution, so they determined to send up a petition to Jove to give them what they wanted.
"Mighty Jove," they cried, "send unto us a king that will rule over us and keep us in order."
Jove laughed at their croaking, and threw down into the swamp a huge Log, which came down splash to the swamp. The Frogs were frightened out of their lives by the commotion made in their midst, and all rushed to the bank to look at the horrible monster; but after a time, seeing that it did not move, one or two of the boldest of them ventured out towards the Log, and even dared to touch it; still it did not move. Then the greatest hero of the Frogs jumped upon the Log and commenced dancing up and down upon it, there upon all the Frogs came and did the same; and for some time the Frogs went about their business every day without taking the slightest notice of their new King Log lying in their midst.
But this did not suit them, so they sent another petition to Jove, and said to him, "We want a real king; one that will really rule over us."
Now this made Jove angry, so he sent among them a big Stork that soon set to work gobbling them all up. Then the Frogs repented when too late.
